Container Terminal Supervision and Production Reporting
Rijeka Container Terminal is a pivotal hub for cargo handling and logistics in the region. With a strategic location and state-of-the-art infrastructure, it plays a crucial role in facilitating global trade. The primary objective of our project was to revolutionize operational efficiency while providing real-time insights into crane activities and production metrics, thereby elevating the terminal’s capabilities. This endeavor integrates cutting-edge features, including real-time monitoring of crane statuses and operational parameters, offering operators immediate access to crucial performance data. Moreover, our system is equipped with alarms and alerts, promptly notifying operators of any anomalies or issues for swift response, thereby minimizing disruptions and upholding safety standards. This SCADA monitoring system offers comprehensive oversight of terminal operations, focusing on the performance of various cranes:
Quay Cranes (QC): These cranes are essential for loading and unloading cargo from vessels docked at the terminal. Our SCADA system monitors crucial parameters such as hoist, gantry, boom, trolley, and twistlock status in real-time.
Rubber-Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTG): RTGs are pivotal for container stacking and retrieval in the yard. Our SCADA system ensures optimal overview of crane operations across all RTGs.
Rail-Mounted Gantry Cranes (RMG): These cranes efficiently handle containers from and to railway vehicles within the terminal yard, ensuring fast and smooth transfer of cargo between storage locations.
Other than the supervision of the cranes, yard lighting control is implemented parallel to the existing local control from the panels.
The workstations are strategically positioned at three main stations within the terminal, providing operators with centralized access to real-time data. Additionally, each crane is equipped with its dedicated SCADA interface, offering detailed insights into individual operations. Our user-friendly interfaces empower operators to efficiently interpret data, enabling informed decision-making and maximizing terminal performance.
In addition to real-time monitoring, our system offers comprehensive production reports, enabling stakeholders to analyze key performance metrics and make informed decisions. The production reporting feature includes work hours calculations, twistlock counter, number of transferred containers by size etc. Benefits of this production report are to report streamline terminal operations, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity and to provide valuable insights for optimizing resource utilization, scheduling maintenance activities, and strategic planning.
